20 Nigerian Foods that can aid in weight loss

In one of my posts, I mentioned i've been on a weight loss journey , for a while now, and in those months, i've been able to loose about 33kg. I'm going to share some of the things I was eating, that aided in my weight loss.


  • Unripe (Green) Plantain 
  • Beans (Cook without oil) 
  • Beetroot ( Make into Smoothie or add to your salad)
  • Oats
  • Ginger tea( Home ground ginger) you can add honey to sweeten 
  • Brown rice or Skinny rice
  • Pepper soup( Preferably with sea food)
  • Oiless okra
  • Salad (This can't be over emphasised.... 
  • minimal cream)
  • Corn meal
  • Moin-moin
  • Smoothies
  • Grilled Fish
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Irish Potatoes 
  • Whole wheat Pasta
  • Nuts.... especially walnuts
  • Bananas
  • Agidi/Eko ( Don't know the English name :-) 
  • Avocados
These are some of the foods that helped me maintain a good diet. In other posts, I'll share recipes with you, and ways to combine these foods.
